I thoroughly enjoyed my stay a Birch Cottage😊. The cottage itself is hidden in the peaceful countryside where you can see hills and valleys from all directions. The interior of the home was stunning, it had the most amazing rustic feel to it and the fireplace in the living room made it super cosy. Each room was furnished beautifully, and made us feel very homely. i’m so happy to have come here. It was everything we were looking for, for a weekend getaway. Thank you Phil 🙂
This is the loveliest place I’ve ever stayed in, such a special spot. The cottage is so cosy and the attention to detail just amazing! You can tell how much they care about the place and their guests. Fantastic sauna, beautiful walks in the surrounding area. The hosts were very kind, accommodating and always responded quickly. Couldn’t ask for more.
Birch Cottage is simply stunning! We knew from the pictures and property description that we had booked somewhere special but on arrival it was immediately clear that we had booked a personal paradise! The cottage sits in a large plot which does not fully reveal itself until you go and explore – it has is own woodland!
The cottage has been beautifully set up inside and strikes a wonderful balance between ancient structure and modern convenience with an eco-focus. We felt immediately at home and found the cottage and area very peaceful and relaxing. The woodland sauna was a very special treat to enjoy as part of this property.
The beds had wonderful high quality mattresses – we all slept blissfully every night.

Lovely gardens, with a patio area and barbecue. The sauna is amazing!
The surrounding countryside is perfects for walks, and we went on several good ones straight from the door.
We bought eggs and honey from the locals, meat for the excellent Cows Hill Farm Shop, and used the village shop lots too. Hardly went to a supermarket while we were there.
All in all, a very special place and we can’t wait to come back.
Stayed for a family weekend in Brockweir and it was absolutely beautiful, the property is hidden away in a quiet and private country lane with ample parking and scenic views across the Wye Valley. You can tell the host has worked incredibly hard to restore and refurbish the cottage with original features alongside all the mod cons. Philip was incredibly responsive, was there to greet us and even posted me my phone charger when I accidentally left it behind! What a gent. Very pleased we chose this place to stay and can’t recommend enough.
Considering booking Phil’s place? Lucky you! This cottage is everything the pictures promise and more. Phil and Philippa are extraordinarily caring hosts, from the way the home is set up to amazing local recommendations to their quick responses to any questions. We stayed for almost a month and loved being able to hop onto local trails from the front door and explore nearby walks, villages, and scenery, but also spent very happy times enjoying the cozy house, sunny patio, many plants and flowers, and of course the sauna. If you’re in need of a true retreat, look no further. Thank you P&P!
